Preparing Our Hearts to Share the Gospel
Last night in small group, we discussed what the Gospel means to us. A simple question perhaps but one I struggled to answer right away. Because I think my first instinct was to wonder if I’m doing enough, doing it well enough, doing it at all. Does it count if I mostly share about my love for God with Christians?
And then it dawned on me that these weird feelings of condemnation were probably the enemy trying to trip me up. Because the gospel isn’t about what I’m doing ... it’s about what Jesus did!!!
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. - John 3:16
If we ever start to worry about not having the right words, not having all the facts, otherwise wanting to be more perfect before sharing ... let’s stop and move our focus from ourselves to God, yes? God is God and can use us at whatever stage we’re at. Yes he wants us to grow in relationship with and knowledge of him but we’ll never be perfect no matter how we grow. When he presents opportunities, let’s not shy away but speak up with faith. We can give our best and trust God to handle the rest.
Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. - Hebrews 13:20-21
Thank you, Jesus, for the cross and for wanting to teach us new things everyday. We’re so blessed to know and grow with you. Thank you, God, for giving us your Son so we could have eternal life. And for the Holy Spirit to help us as we love and need you so much. You could do this all on your own but choose to involve us ... what amazing love. ❤️
