Making Mistakes as a Christian
I loved every second of the latest episode of The Chosen (Season 2, Episode 6). There was a moment where one of the characters was mulling over a mistake, and Jesus said something like
“You thought you’d never sin again?”
Haha ah have you ever felt like this?
Like “I’ve matured, why am I acting immaturely?”
The other day I was feeling a bit upset (moving is emotional!) and, thankfully, my mom didn’t allow me to complain. Praise God for those people in our life who always point us to the truth, amen? Who remind us we don’t have time for pity parties because God is doing and giving us so much… even if we’ve forgotten temporarily.
She suggested we read this passage from Isaiah 40. After we finished, she asked, “Do you feel better?” Indeed, I did. 😅 Nothing better than God’s TRUTH to redirect!
“Why do you complain, Jacob? Why do you say, Israel, “My way is hidden from the Lord; my cause is disregarded by my God”? Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:27-31)
No matter how “mature” we get, sometimes we’ll have an off moment (hopefully not entire off days!) and that’s ok. We can repent and draw near to God again. If you’re feeling low today, I pray these passages from Isaiah will strengthen your hope and faith and heart. If you’re feeling good, I pray God will use you to sharpen someone who may be feeling low. Let’s be community for one another, sharpening each other with deep love. God IS so good. Wherever we are, he sees us. Let’s trust his ways and him lead. ❤️
