Restaurant review: ICHU Peru in Central, Hong Kong
A four-hands dinner with Crab Market Dubai (+ more dinners to come!)
Hong Kong is no stranger to four-hands dinners but I haven’t had one that was such good value in a long time. ICHU is of course located in the beautiful H Queens building, and is itself a stunner of a restaurant. There are loads of gorgeous curves, muralled walls, and textured fabrics in addition to floor to ceiling windows and a spacious terrace. At night, it’s especially moody and loungey. While it might not be ideal for photos (sorry these are so dark!), it’s a great space to spend a few hours eating large quantities of food. Which is exactly what we did at this dinner.

For ICHU’s first four-hands dinner, Head Chef Sang Jeong, a protege of Virgilio Martínez (of Lima, #5 on the World's 50 Best Restaurants, and the Best Restaurant in South America 2017), partnered with Chef Emanuel Alvarado of Crab Market Dubai to create an eight-course menu on offer for $720 per person.
There were many hella good things on this menu including Chef Sang’s stuffed chicken wing and Wagyu hanger steak with one of the best chimichurri sauces I’ve ever had, and Chef Emanuel’s king crab salad.

In my opinion, there’s nothing worse than paying for an expensive, multi-course menu and leaving hungry. But there was absolutely nothing to worry about with this menu! Not only were the courses generously portioned, but they were generous with the high quality ingredients too. I left the restaurant very satisfied with the meal.
While the ICHU x Crab Market Dubai dinner is now over, look out for the ICHU x La Rambla dinner from 5 to 8 May, where Chef Sang will partnering with Chef Ferran Tadeo. I’ve had Chef Ferran’s cooking at La Rambla before and it is also delicious, so this is definitely a Peruvian x Spanish dinner you won’t want to miss.
