Staycation Review: Marco Polo Hong Kong
You know how some days you wake up with a song in your head? It’s not even necessarily your favourite song or anything but you just feel reminded of it? Today I had a day off and both when I woke up this morning and when I woke up after my nap (wee!), I was thinking about “You” by APOLLO LTD.
Here are some of the lyrics: Every story, every scar / You are loved the way you are / There’s nothing you need to prove / Cause heaven knows your name / There’s a reason you were made / Fearfully and wonderfully you / Don’t give up / He’s not giving up on you
It’s a pretty upbeat pop number but the lyrics are 🔥. So taking it as a sign God wants me to be reminded of this whether it’s for today (don’t think I need it today?), for something in the future, or maybe for you. ❤️
Also today I checked into the Marco Polo Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui for a mid-week staycation (reviewing their 50th anniversary “Your Memories Are Our Memories” package for Foodie). As I was walking to the hotel, I chatted with God about how thankful I was. There have been times in my life where my heart has become a bit spoiled but I’ll never forget last year where I spent most of my time healing from heartbreak at home BUT it was hands down the season of my life where I felt and grew closer to God. Every story, every scar, now I know 100% he loves me just the way I am indeed. I felt God was happy that I was happy, and wanted me to share about how he wants us to ask him for more. He doesn’t promise to give us everything we want, but he does promise to answer (Matthew 7:7-11).
And how blessed we are that God Almighty will listen to and answer all of our prayers.
It’s been a while since I’ve been treated to some R&R so very thankful for God providing this opportunity to rest.
In addition to a harbourview room, a care package of jam and cookies, and their signature 'Earl Grape' iced teas, the package included a cute makeup-box themed afternoon tea with amazing open-faced finger sandwiches. Special shout out to the truffled egg and lobster and mango ones. Yum. The sweets were also lovely, especially the foie gras macaron.
My friend Amy joined me for dinner and it was so nice catch up (she’s a doctor and had something crazy like four overnight shifts that week!) and encourage each other in the Lord. We went to Cucina, the Marco Polo’s Italian restaurant, to try some of their new seasonal specials. Since we can’t really travel to Italy this year, Chef Andrea wanted to bring Italy to us with dishes like red prawn carpaccio, a homestyle seafood stew, and osso bucco.
While I’m not much of a dessert person, the chocolate sphere with vanilla ice cream and chocolate fondue absolutely blew me away. Best version of a chocolate sphere I’ve ever had; super milky in all the right ways.
But honestly the thing I was looking forward to the most (other than sleeping in and working from a king-sized bed; my studio has a twin) was spending extra time with God. There’s something about being in a fresh new environment isn’t there? Home is wonderful but sometimes it’s nice to switch things up, experience God in a new place. Having my morning quiet time while staring at this view was such a treat.
And the night view wasn't too bad either! ;)
So if you do need this reminder to pray over your dreams, please allow me to e-hug you and say sis keep praying. Pray for everything you want and see how God answers. Whether it’s a yes or no but something better, we can trust God’s eyes are on us and he wants the very best for us. As we wait, may we focus on loving and seeking his face (priorities), growing closer to our Father through sweet, regular conversations. This time, for me, answered prayer looked like some staycations to rest, relax and work on some writing. For you, maybe it’s tuition fees, new shoes, or a fancy date night. Don’t be afraid to seek God. He’s waiting for you. ❤️
