8 Verses To Remind Us of the Meaning of Life
As I was praying this morning, I saw an image of someone walking along a path. They seemed kind of weary but determined, not entirely sure where they were going, but chugging along, one foot in front of the other, going further on the path. Then I saw something like the throne of God pop up and down like a pop up book. And I felt God was reminding me to never forget my why. Often times we’re waiting for God to give us more in an area (guidance, breakthrough etc.) But ultimately we already know what our final prize is - it’s eternal life with God.
I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. (Philippians 3:14)
Even if God has given us a vision of something, we shouldn’t be chasing that vision more than we’re chasing God’s heart.
Let’s remember what God said about David:
But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said, ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do.’ (Acts 13:22)
Let’s remember these words from Paul about Jesus:
Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ (Philippians 3:8)
Let’s remember how majestically beautiful, magnificent, holy, wonderful our great God is:
And instantly I was in the Spirit, and I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it. The one sitting on the throne was as brilliant as gemstones—like jasper and carnelian. And the glow of an emerald circled his throne like a rainbow. Twenty-four thrones surrounded him, and twenty-four elders sat on them. They were all clothed in white and had gold crowns on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning and the rumble of thunder. And in front of the throne were seven torches with burning flames. This is the sevenfold Spirit of God. (Revelation 4:2-5)
May we bow in front of the throne of God today, giving him our all, doing everything he tells us to do. Holy, holy is the Lord Almighty (Revelation 4:8).
